Therapy Approaches

“Once you do away with the idea of people as fixed, static entities, then you see that people can change, and there is hope.”
Bell Hooks

EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy can be incorporated to heal the symptoms of trauma, stuck memories, negative self beliefs, and maladaptive life patterns. Eventually, EMDR can lead us to feeling like we are finally living in the present instead of the past.

I am a Certified EMDR therapist (EMDRIA) and incorporate multiple EMDR approaches in addition to the standard protocols (e.g. EMDR 2.0, EMDR Flash trainings, Implicit Memory Processing)

Somatic Therapy
Somatic therapies include a range of therapies that incorporate a body-oriented approach. These approaches work by strengthening the mind-body connection and work towards releasing the emotional tension we are holding.
As you learn how to create more balance with your emotional and physical well-being we can work towards easing some of the symptoms that have been making you feel stuck.

Interpersonal Neurobiology

Your brain isn’t just shaped by your biology - it is also shaped by your relationships and experiences.
Interpersonal neurobiology helps us understand how connection, emotions, and even trauma impact the way we think, feel, and relate to others
Repairing our early attachment experiences can create changes in how we feel connected to others and our ability to give and receive comfort and care.

Ego State Therapy
Parts-based therapies can help us understand our emotional reactions, why we can't seem to create the changes we have been looking for, and discover how we relate to ourselves and others.
Ego states is one type of therapeutic approach that helps connect with our 'parts'. Other types of approaches include IFS, Structural Dissociation, Gestalt Therapy, AEDP, Jungian Therapy).
By connecting with the parts of ourselves that are holding beliefs, rules, old-stories or memories we can help ease the intensity of difficult memories, start seeing things differently and become less emotionally reactive.
